Britain’s High Speed Train
125 is the story of Britain's High Speed Train. Starting with the prototype we follow the fortunes of the fleet over the 30 years since introduction through to current operations in 2006 and discover how they revitalised rail travel in Britain. Fantastic footage, interesting graphics and in-depth commentary make this a DVD not to be missed
Highlights include: The prototype taking part in the Stockton & Darlington celebrations and on ECML test; The early years with rail blue (& yellow) power cars on the Western Region at Reading & Paddington, the Eastern at Morpeth and Welwyn Garden City, set 254001 arriving at Edinburgh, and a set on the Midland at Trent Junction; the last Western Region blue power car; the introduction of sectorisation and InterCity livery, including a pair of power cars being chased by the 'police' Class 37, and mixed sets working on all 3 regions; Privatisation and the multitude of liveries - First Great Western's HSTs at work between Paddington & Penzance in all four FGW liveries, including the launch of the short-lived 'Merlin' livery; Virgin HSTs at work all over the country in their distinctive red, including the unveiling of the new livery, and a GNER power car at Readi1987; Midland Mainline tangerine units and multi-coloured sets featuring three different liveries; The Rio project; Transfer moves; Units in store; GNER before the red doors, and after, at work on the route between King’s Cross and Inverness.
