Diesel & Electric Blue 5

Like the earlier volumes, Part 5 of Diesel & Electric Blue is crammed with fascinating footage, much of it from the early 1970s. Eighteen different classes are featured, including a rare shot of the prototype Falcon and the slightly less rare but elusive Class 74. Many of the locos and workings no longer exist, nor do some of the locations, so there's bags of nostalgia here too.

Highlights include: Severn Tunnel Junction in 1975, with a Peak, a Class 33 and a pair of 25s; 55011 departing from Hull; a great collection of Class 76s at numerous locations, including Dinting, Hadfield, Woodhead, Dunford Bridge and Mottram; a fantastic compilation of film from the Tuffley loop and Gloucester Eastgate station, long sinced consigned to history. This section alone features Classes 20, 25, 45, 47 & 50, as well as a Peak and a 47 double-heading an MGR; Cromptons at Weymouth; Bournemouth in 1974; a Western at Eastleigh; Deltics at York; a 40 on the S&C; 37s at Chelmsford; an unrefurbished 50 at Weston-Super-Mare; Western Sentinel at Birmingham New Street; 40075 at Chester; Class 86s in 1972; Bristol Temple Meads in 1973, including Falcon, a Hymek and an 03; changing times at Doncaster in 1975 and 1983, featuring Classes 03, 37, 40, 47, 55 & 56; West Country Westerns and a Warship; Westerns and a 50 at Penzance … and much more.
