This is our sixth journey back in time to the 1970s & '80s. Like the earlier programmes, this one is crammed with footage from the Rail Blue era. Sixteen loco classes feature along with a sprinkling of Southern Region units, including 2-BILs. It goes without saying that almost all the locos and workings have long since vanished into history - hence the high nostalgia quotient of the entire Diesel & Electric Blue series.

Highlights of DEB6 include: A Hymek shunting parcels; Cromptons on freight and passenger at Exeter; a 25, 31 and 47s on freight at Stafford; the East Coast Pullman Farewell; 55012 restarting, 03073 shunting and 47172 arriving with the Royal Train - all at Scarborough; on board the Class 25-hauled ‘Hadrian’ and 55016 working over the S&C; 50043 heading for the East Coast on a railtour; 47s and a 40 assisting steam specials; a Class 73 shunting preserved steam locos at Brighton before their move to the NRM York; a visit to Cohen’s scrapyard at Kettering for the last rites of the Hymeks; a selection of Eastern Region-based 47s on freight and passenger; Deltics and Westerns on express trains; Peaks at York; 40s on the S&C . . . and so much more.
