ROUTES TO THE ISLES
OBAN - FORT WILLIAM - MALLAIG - KYLE OF LOCHALSH

Routes To The Isles features a variety of diesel locomotives on a range of workings on some of Britain’s most scenic lines in the past 10 years.

As the title suggests, all the featured lines lead to ferry services connecting the Scottish mainland to the Western Isles - Glasgow to Oban, Fort William and Mallaig, and the line from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh.

The scenic nature of these routes attracts a high number of charter workings, from the luxury ‘Royal Scotsman’ to enthusiast trips, producing an interesting and highly varied selection of motive power over the years, including:

Western’ D1015 running to Kyle, ‘Deltic’ 55022 to Mallaig, 50031 & 049 to Fort William, Mallaig & Kyle, 40145 to Kyle on three separate occasions, 57601 on Scottish charter duty, and the first Class 47s to Mallaig.

There's also the day-to-day booked locomotive workings, producing 37425 on ballast at Loch Awe, EPS’s 37603 on the Alcan slabs. GB Railfreight Class 66s, Class 67s on the sleeper service, Virgin’s 57301 on the Alcan  . . and more!

Stunning scenery and some impressive thrash complete the mix, and make this an unmissable DVD!
