WORLD CUP COMPETITION

Visions are proud sponsors/organisers of this fun World Cup competition. All profits will go towards funding a new covered roll-on roll-off terracing for Chelmsford City Football Club..

How it Works

This competition is based on your football prediction skills. Apart from guessing the scores for the group games, you have to predict the eventual winners, how many goals to be scored, bookings etc. The goal is to amass the most points from your predictions but beware you can score minus points as well as plus points.

The person with the most points at the end of the competition will win the first prize of £250 plus hospitality for two at one of next season’s Chelmsford City home games. The second place person will win £50. The third place person will win £25. If any placing is tied then the positions will be decided on the person who was nearest to predicting the 1st goal time, if still tied then it will be the person who was nearest on total goals.

The entry fee is £5.00 per entry, you can enter more than once (cheques payable to Visions International). All profits will go towards the Ro-Ro fund being run by Chelmsford City Supporters Club. The fund has been set up to raise money for some roll on roll off covered terracing at the club.

Apart from taking part yourself, we would be grateful if you could hassle familly, friends and workmates to join in. Photocopies of the entry form are perfectly acceptable or forms can be downloaded as PDFs HERE.

Once, the competition starts there will be a league table on the website so you can check your progress.

CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES: 14:45 on 11th June 2010

There are 64 matches in total (should any match get abandoned and the game replayed then the stats from the original match will be discounted)

Points are awarded as follows:

Overall Winners: correct answer 25 pts

Runners-Up: correct answer 25 pts

Total number of Goals scored in all 64 matches*: correct answer 50 pts, within 5 either-way 25 points, within 10 either way 10 points

Top Scorer*: correct answer 25 pts

Total number of Sending Offs (if a player recieves two yellow cards in a game, this will count as two yellow cards for the purpose of this competition AND as 1 sending off): correct answer 30 pts, within 1 either-way 20 points, within 2 either way 10 points

 England’s 1st goalscorer: correct answer 25 pts

Total number of yellow cards (if a player recieves two yellow cards in a game, this will count as two yellow cards for the purpose of this competition AND as 1 sending off):: correct answer 50 pts, within 5 either-way 25 points, within 10 either way 10 points

Number of games decided on penalty shoot out: correct answer 25 pts

Number of goals scored in 1st knockout Rnd*: correct answer 30 pts, within 1 either-way 10 points

Number of goals scored in Quarter Finals*: correct answer 30 pts, within 1 either-way 10 points

How many European teams in the semi-finals: correct answer 25 pts

Will England reach the quarter finals: correct answer 15 pts

Number of matches that are drawn over 90 mins (includes group & knockout round matches): correct answer 30 pts, within 1 either-way 10 points

Number of games decided in extra-time: correct answer 30 pts, within 1 either-way 10 points

Number of penalties awarded: correct answer 30 pts, within 1 either-way 10 points

Which Team will score the most goals*: correct answer 25 pts

After how many minutes will the first goal of tournament be scored: correct answer 50 pts, within 5 minutes either-way 25 points, within 10 minutes either way 10 points

How many goals will be scored in final including extra time*: correct answer 25 pts

 

Section 2 requires you to give scoreline predictions for all of the group games. Here you can rack up the points or also lose quite a lot.  Points are awarded as follows:

 

Correct score = 30 pts

Correct outcome (i.e picking the correct winner or draw but not with the right score) = 5 pts

Incorrect outcome = -5 pts
